TURNER, Martha Lynn Turner

In the comfort of family, Martha Turner passed away in hospital at the age of 63. Martha was born in Cochenour, Ontario and spent her early years in Deep River, Ontario, before moving to Toronto where she graduated from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute in Journalism. After graduating Martha applied her skills to a lifelong career in office administration working for legal, financial and educational organizations.
Martha Lynn Turner is survived, and missed, by her siblings James (Shelley) and Paul (Paula) and Kerry (Anton). She will also be greatly missed by her nephew Brett and nieces Taylor and Meghan with whom she had a close, loving, relationship. She will also be missed by her extended family. Martha was predeceased by her parents James and Corinne Turner.
Martha had three lifelong passions: her pets, her sports teams and politics.
Martha’s home was always a refuge for cats and dogs rescued from sad circumstances. Her compassion for animals knew no limits, and was a testament to her caring nature. In recent years her beloved dog, Jill, was a constant companion.
Her love for, and occasional frustration with, the Leafs and Blue Jays, sparked many animated conversations about the state of both teams. When the conversation about sports ended, as an avid consumer of current anffairs news, the conversation about politics began.
Martha lived a full life and will be missed by family, friends and neighbours. All who loved her wish her gentle soul peace.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life will be held by family at a later date.
