Passed away peacefully at St Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton on Tuesday, August 26th, 2025 in his 75th year. Willy had a great love for his family and he fought bravely until the end. A hard-working tobacco farmer for many years, Willy built his life through dedication and perseverance. His strong work ethic and determination have been proudly carried on by his children and grandchildren. His quick wit and sense of humour never subsided and will be deeply missed by those who love him. He joins in heaven his Beloved wife of 52 years, Barbara Van Dyk (2023), who he has missed dearly. Loving father of Laurie (Jeff) Ball, Peter Van Dyk, Paul (Christa) Van Dyk, and Lisa (Ryan) VandenBussche. Cherished grandfather of Maddilyn, Kaitlyn, Mya, Emma, Raya, Logan, Cy, Spencer, and Miles. Predeceased by his loving parents Peter VanDyk (2001) and Theodora (Selten) Van Dyk (2003); and by his treasured brother Johnny Van Dyk (2014). Dearest brother of JoAnn (Ed) Deconinck, Joanne Van Dyk, Frances (Marius) Bouw, Patricia (Mike) Fess, Petra (Benny) Lauwerier, Bernadette (Blaine) Franklin, and Thea (Ken) Yarmie. Willy was also a loving brother in-law, uncle, godfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Friends may call at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, Delhi (519) 582-1290 (www.mfh.care) for visitation on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady, Queen of Martyrs Roman Catholic Church, Delhi on Thursday, September 4, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Delhi Cemetery. Donations to the Brant Community Healthcare System Foundation (Brantford General Hospital, Dialysis Unit) or to the Norfolk Haldimand Community Hospice will be gratefully appreciated by the family.
