Paul Vaneyk

Passed away peacefully with family by his side at Marigold Hospice Care, Clarington on Monday morning, March 16, 2026.

Paul was predeceased by his parents Walter and Jacobine Vaneyk; his siblings, Agnes DeMille (Harold), Mary Penwarden (Charlie) and his daughter Dawn Vaneyk (Tim Lehman).

Dear husband of Elizabeth (Bessie), (nee Yeo) for nearly 73 years; Loving father of Paul Jan (Angela), late Dawn (Tim), Blair (Marilyn), Blain (Cathy), Ellen, Darryl, Gary (Sylvia).

Paul was a loving Grandfather to Andrew (Sonya), Emily (Paolo), Blaise, Elisha (James), Madison, Isaac (Michelle), Austin, Lauren, Levi, Devon, Ellie (Cameron) and Evelyn and Great Grandfather to Holden, Daxton, Ivy, Knox, Layne, Thea and Jasper.

He will also be greatly missed by his brother John (late Jacqueline Rosevear), many nieces and nephews and his cousins in the Netherlands.

Paul Vaneyk was born on June 24, 1933 at Gobels in Blenheim township Ontario and attended school at Nixon, Woodbury, Windham Centre, Pleasant Ridge Road, Burketon and Long Sault. He completed studies in Diesel and Auto Mechanics at Chicago Vocational Training Corp as well as certifications from Massey Ferguson, Ford Tractors and New Holland.

Paul was a farm machinery mechanic and lifelong farmer, beginning as a boy helping his father on various farms in southwestern Ontario and on the family tobacco farm at Long Sault. A number of years were spent as a farm machinery mechanic for Morton’s in Maple Grove, heavy duty mechanic for McNamara Construction and work at General Motors before realizing his dream of farming full time on the family’s Corner Creek Farm near Tyrone. He became a foundation soybean seed grower and farmed actively until his early 80’s. Over the years he was always ready to help neighbors and others in the community. He was a member of the Canadian Club, remained active as a member of Enniskillen and Tyrone United Church and took an active role in various community service activities. Paul was an avid reader of poetry and history and together with Bessie enjoyed a number of vacations abroad. Paul and Bessie loved to dance and they rarely missed an opportunity to do so particularly to their favourite band Emily Creek.
