WILLIAMSON, Gordon “Gord” Williamson
March 19, 1951 - March 12, 2026
Passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family, on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the age of 74.
Gord was born in England and came to Canada with his family in 1956. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. Gord shared 53 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Lea-Anne. He was a proud father to Courtney (Ryan) and Ryan, and cherished every moment with his grandchildren, Caden, Trent, and Blayke. Gord is also survived by his sister Chris (Frank) and was predeceased by his parents, Ken and Mary Williamson.
Gord spent more than 30 years with the Durham District School Board, where he was dedicated to coaching and mentoring athletes. He spent many years coaching volleyball at both Seneca College and Durham College. In recognition of his contributions to the sport, he was honoured with induction into the OCAA Hall of Fame and received the CCAA Coaching Excellence Award.
Gord had a lifelong love of sports and the outdoors. He enjoyed playing baseball, hockey, golf, and especially loved fishing on Lake Temagami with his father, son, and friends.
Gord will be remembered for his warm heart, steady presence, and deep love for his family, especially his grandchildren. He took great pride in the time he spent with those he loved, and cherished the many moments shared together. He was always willing to teach, guide, and share what he had learned with those around him. Gord’s kindness, wisdom, and love for family will be remembered by all who knew him.
