WITTE, Bernice Witte

Bernice Witte (née Mighton) passed away on Saturday, June 14th, 2025, just two days before her 93rd birthday. Born in Bentinck Township on June 16th, 1932, to George and Alice (née Stinson) Mighton, Bernice lived on the family farm until she married Ken.

Bernice and Ken moved to Durham and later to Guelph, where she worked at Hammond Manufacturing until her retirement. In retirement, they enjoyed life together and Bernice became a devoted member of the Guelph Seniors Club and the Stone Road Mall Coffee Club, where she formed many lifelong friendships.

After Ken’s passing, Bernice relocated to Saint Luke’s Place in Cambridge, where she embraced new friends, community activities, and the comfort of shared companionship.

Survived by her brother Tom (Marion) Mighton of Guelph, sister-in-law Shirley Goldsmith of Durham, and brother-in-law Orville Witte. Predeceased by her beloved husband Ken, brothers Emmerson Mighton, Robert (Phyllis) Mighton; sister Lois (Wilbert) Wiechers; sister-in-law Doris (Milford) Witte; brothers-in-law Clarence (Dorothy) Witte and Oliver Goldsmith.

“Niece-y” will be deeply missed by her Goddaughter, nieces, nephews, and their families.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation and celebration of her life at Mighton Funeral Home in Hanover, on Friday, June 20th, 2025 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, June 21st, 2025 at 10:00 AM, with Pastor Lyndsay McGregor officiating. Interment to follow in Durham Cemetery.

Bernice was known for always wanting the best for others. She was generous, thoughtful, and lived the philosophy of paying it forward.
