WOLTER, Ilse Wolter (née Bietz)

Passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at age 80, surrounded by family. Predeceased just days earlier by her beloved husband of over 60 years, Johannes Wolter, who was waiting to hold the door of Heaven open for her.

Ilse was born on October 28, 1944, in Stuttgart, Germany. At 15, she immigrated to Canada where she eventually met John — the love of her life — at a Christian campground. Together they built a beautiful life in Sarnia, Ontario, raising five children.

Known for her humility and strong faith, Ilse created a home filled with love, discipline, music, and joy. From piano lessons and worship songs to her delicious “Reurkuchen” and nightly suppers, she nurtured her family with endless care.

She delighted in camping trips, church gatherings, game nights, and long walks with John. “Oma” beamed when surrounded by her grandchildren, spoiling them with treats and laughter.

Ilse is lovingly remembered by her children Richard (Michelle), Michael (Karen), Linda (Rob), Judy (Gregg), Tina (Jake); her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.

Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
