McElroy PatriciaMcELROY, Patricia Louise  -

1943 - 2024

Patricia Louise McElroy (nee Connor) peacefully, passed away at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital on April 15, 2024.

Born November 23, 1943, to Tom and Isabelle Connor (nee Keehn) in Port Arthur, Ontario.

She excelled as a student and a teacher, graduating from Central School, P.A.C.I., and Lakehead University.

In 1965, she was the first graduate of Lakehead University, earning a BSc when few women pursued careers in science. She was an inspiring science teacher from 1965 to 2004 in Toronto, Schreiber, and Thunder Bay.

On August 29, 1970, she married Bob McElroy, and together they shared a life filled with love and joy, raising two children, Erin and Robbie.

While in her teens, Pat was a member of the Port Arthur Girls Pipe Band.

After retirement, her eclectic interests included miniatures, travel, bridge, quilting and, always, reading. She was a member of the Rural 60 Plus Quilters Group.

Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Bob; children, Erin (Brad) Rob; granddaughters, Taerin, Haeyn, and Olivia; and sister, Penelope Connor (Jim Wigmore) and their children, Kathleen (Kris) and Alexander (Ginny).

As a devoted mother, wife, and grandmother, Pat's warmth and kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.

Her absence leaves a profound void, and she will be deeply missed, remembered always for her remarkable spirit and unwavering love.

Funeral, Sunday, April 21st, 1:00 p.m., at Harbourview Funeral Home, Thunder Bay Ontario.

If so desired, expressions of sympathy may be made to Rural 60 Plus or the Thunder Bay Public Library.
