Allison VirginiaALLISON, Virginia June Thornton   -

September 18, 1929 - April 17, 2024

 

Virginia was born in Leicester England.

 

A longtime resident of Thornhill and recently of Aurora, Ontario.

 

Predeceased by loving and much missed husband, Andrew (2009). Mother to Caroline Spielmann and John (Barbara) Allison. Grandmother to Lindsay Goldman, Shawn (Candace) Allison, Britton (Adam) Mehew.

Great-Grandmother to Finn and Connor Goldman and Harper and Nixon Mehew.

 

Virginia loved gardening, bird watching, traveling and in earlier years her beloved cats. Virginia was awarded the S.S. St. John medal by the Governor General of Canada George Vanier in 1964 for her volunteer work with St. John Ambulance.

 

Later, she volunteered at Mackenzie Health Centre and the Thornhill Seniors Centre.

 

At her request, cremation has taken place and burial to follow at a later date.

 

She also wishes to thank the Margaret Bahen Hospice in Newmarket for all the excellent care she received while there, and all the staff who treated her with such dignity and compassion.
