BELFRY, Grant - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Grant Belfry, on February 29, 2024, in his 82nd year, surrounded by his family.
Grant leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Sharon (Copeman); his son, Craig (Gina); his daughter, Sandra (Jeff); and his cherished grandchildren, Keegan, Nyah, Owen and Theo.
Grant is survived by his sister, Joan; his brother, Frank (Cathy) and family; his sister, Karen (Rick); his brother, Gordon; and his sister-in-law Arlene and family.
He was predeceased by his mother, Marion (Coome); father, William Belfry; and his friend, Phineas.
Grant attended Westdale Secondary School and was a member of the Hamilton City Champion 1961-62 Senior Basketball Team and later was a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University.
Grant worked for forty years at Stelco as a Senior Melter and Supervisor in the BOF. With a wonderful and abundant passion for life, Grant especially enjoyed talking with people and bringing life to every party. Summers at YMCA Geneva Park were a highlight.
His grandchildren were extremely important to him, and he enjoyed attending as many Burlington Teen Tour Band parades, Nexxice skating competitions, Clarington Knights football, North Durham Warriors hockey, and Clarington Orioles baseball team games as he could.
We would like to invite family and friends to please join us for the Celebration of Grant's Life which will take place on Saturday, May 25th from 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at the Burlington Golf and Country Club.
Donations in his memory can be sent to Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice in Hamilton or to St. Andrew's Anglican Church in Grimsby. Thank you to Dr. Salib and the staff at the Walker Clinic and the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice for providing such wonderful care.
