Chard WilfredCHARD, Wilfred "Wilf" Thomas   - Affectionately known as "Pop" by family and friends, Wilf passed peacefully, at Hospice Vaughan surrounded by family on April 22, 2024, at age 91.

 

Beloved husband of Ines (née Martini) for 68 years.

 

Loving father of Karen (John) and Richard.

 

Adored "Coke" to Owen (Margaret), Jaimie, and Taylor (Celine).

 

Survived by brother, Bob; and in-laws, Alice, Gail, Pete Pipher, Santo and Ann Martini, and Noreen and Bruce Lee.

Predeceased by parents, Jack and Alma; siblings, Margaret, Gus, Don, Al, and Muriel; and in-laws, Walt Brown, Pearl, and June.

 

A teacher for his career, he was also well-known for his sports exploits and is inducted into the Ontario Lacrosse Hall of Fame.

 

A long-time resident of Woodbridge, he helped start neighbourhood recycling and volunteered for many years at the Food Bank. Wilf loved a conversation with anyone whose path he crossed.

 

He was a true gentleman who will be remembered for his kindness, easy smile, wry sense of humour, and generosity.

 

The family would like to thank the staff of Amica Peel Village, the Alzheimer Society of York Region, and the staff and volunteers at Hospice Vaughan for their care and support.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Hospice Vaughan or the Alzheimer Society of York Region.

 

Visitation, May 3rd, 10:30 a.m., at Ward Funeral Home, 4671 Highway 7, Woodbridge, followed by a Memorial Service at 12:30 p.m.
