Gibson KennethGIBSON, Kenneth Russell  -  Passed peacefully, with family by his side at Joseph Brant Hospital on Monday, April 15, 2024, at the age of 95.

 

Beloved husband of Barbara G. J. Gibson (nee Webster) for 70 years; loving father of Lynn Hunt, Alison (Bill) Butler, Evelyn (Dean) Newey and Duncan Gibson; proud grandfather of Spencer, Jimmy, Julia, Patricia, Charles and Natasha; and great-grandfather of Jacob, Aria, Aurora and James.

Predeceased by his parents, William and Violet Gibson; brother, William (Sevia); niece, Brooke of Toronto; and brother-in-law, John Webster of Peterborough. Kenneth grew up in Toronto, where he met Barb.

 

They built their family home in Burlington, where he still lived. Where he became an active Mason for 71 years, 1993-94 Worshipful Master of Brant Lodge No. 663, a Shriner and Scottish Rite member for 50 years (Hamilton) and past Vice President of Hamilton Shrine Oriental Band; worked for Ontario Hydro, Superintendent – Control Operations (P.S.O.D.), retired after 41 years.

 

Member of both Probus Clubs in town (Lakeshore Club – Charter Member, Burlington Club member) and the Romeo Club (Retired Old Men Eating Out). He will be missed dearly by family, including many nieces, nephews and friends from the many groups he was devoted to.

 

Visitation at Smith's Funeral Home, 1167 Guelph Line, Burlington on Thursday, May 9th, from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Services will be held at St. Matthews-on-the-Plains Anglican Church, 126 Plains Road East, Burlington, on Friday, May 10, 2024. The Masonic Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. and Service of Remembrance will begin at 2:00 p.m. All are welcome to attend both services.

 

If desired, memorial contributions to the Shriners Club of Hamilton, Joseph Brant Hospital, Alzheimer Society or the Canadian Cancer Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
