Beloved wife of the late Fred for 70 years.

Wonderful mother of Linda (Peter) Service, Cathy (Doug) McFadden, David (Melinda) and Dennis (Tanya).

Adoring nana of Michael, Taylor, Alex, Harrison and Rachel.

Gigi of Ella, Raegan, Quinn and Theo.

Peacefully, with dignity and grace, on Saturday, June 18, 2022.

Beloved wife and best friend of the late Martin for sixty-two years. Adored mother and mother-in-law of Marla and Jay Rosen, Bram and Chantal Greenbaum, Gayle and Richard Farb.

Nihda JamesNIHDA, James Victor   -  1930 – 2022  Jim passed away peacefully, at Sts. Peter and Paul (Ukrainian) Retirement Residence in his 92nd year, of complications following a stroke.

Beloved husband of the late Jeni Bobinski; and beloved father of the late Jeffrey Nihda; cherished father of Chris (Barbara) and Rick (Tracy); loving grandfather (Grampy) of Kelly, Amber, Taylor, Lauren, and Ashlyn; dearly loved brother of the late Fred Nihda and Elizabeth Tokarsky.

Jim touched many hearts and will be sorely missed.

Jim was born in Toronto to parents, Victor and Rose Nihda, on January 1, 1930.

He grew up in Toronto and married Jeni on September 11, 1954. Jim started his broadcast career with 1050 CHUM in Toronto, before moving to CKLB (CKDO) in Oshawa in 1951.

Loving mother and mother-in-law of Wendy and Danny Bernstein, and the late Howard Ray.

Baines JohnBAINES, John Peter  -  Passed away peacefully, on June 18, 2022, at the age of 82, with the love of his family in his heart.

Devoted husband to Ariane, and proud and loving father to his three children: Mark (Lindsay), Michelle, and Michael. John was born in Woodford Essex, England and immigrated to Canada in 1970.

He spent his professional career of over 40 years in the reinsurance industry, was well respected by his peers, and never hesitated to share his knowledge with others.

But without a doubt, his largest accomplishment was his family.

Workman BruceWORKMAN, Bruce   -  It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bruce, in his 90th year.

He passed on Thursday, June 16, 2022 with his wife, Deborah, by his side.

Bruce leaves behind his wife Deborah, son Donald, and step-son Christopher, grandchildren Teadora, Maia, Lily and Nathan, and his great-grandson Elija.

KEE, Frederick Joseph   -   April 5, 1921 – June 15, 2022

Passed on June 15, 2022, at the age of 101. Loving husband of Yvone Edythe Kee (died February 7, 2017).

Father of Stephen (Tracey), David (Holly), Brenda and Barbara Aldan (Jack). Dear grandfather of Bryan, Tyler, Alyson and Hayden; and best buddies with Kenny, the family dog.

Fred was a World War II veteran, having served in the RCAF, RAF and Combined Operations in Great Britain during WWII, and served as a Sea Cadet as a teenager.

Podpecan EmilijaPODPECAN, Emilija "Milka"   -  Passed away peacefully, in Toronto, Ontario, on June 15, 2022, in her 82nd year.

She was born in Murska Sobota, Yugoslavia, on January 2, 1940.

Emilija is now reunited with her beloved late husband Steven Podpecan (November 1934 - February 2022).

She is survived by her loving son Stevin (Rita Santo) and her loving grandsons Phillip and David.

Emilija worked at Sick Children's Hospital for 42 years, where she made many friends. She will be forever remembered, loved and deeply missed by all of her family and friends.

MacLean IanMACLEAN, Ian Dewar Swanson   -   December 3, 1934 – June 14, 2022

It is with great sadness, that we announce the death of Ian MacLean. 

Ian was well loved by his sons, Scott (Sara), Bruce (Nancy); and daughter, Heather.

He took great pride in his grandchildren, Leah, Dana, Griffin, Charlie, Poppy, Charlotte, and Theodore.

He is survived by his former wife, Ruth MacLean.

He was predeceased by his parents, Jock and Beatrice (Swanson) MacLean; and his sister, Sheila Fachnie (John).

Ian spent his career in the construction industry, starting as a deep-sea diver, progressing to management.

Rankin CassieRANKIN, Cassie   - 1929 - 2022  Cassie was born on a farm near Mundare, Alberta, to Anton and Mary Kitlarchuk, and was oldest sister to Peter, Russell and Marcia.

She left Alberta as a young woman to settle in Toronto, where she married Francis (Frank) Rankin.

They raised five children: William (Michele), Linda, Deborah (Brian), James, and Janice (Adrian); and she was Baba to Sarah, Aaron, Olivia, Andrea, Alanna, Simon, Ava and Kate.

Cassie was a devoted member of St. Helen's Catholic Parish, and a longtime member of the Catholic Women's League.

Her faith and her family were Cassie's abiding treasures.

McGuire EvelynMcGUIRE, Evelyn (nee MITCHELL)   -  October 7, 1925 – June 14, 2022

Peacefully, in her ninety-seventh year, on Tuesday, June 14, 2022.

Beloved wife of the late Kenneth McGuire, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Hattie and Gordon Mitchell.

Loving sister of Norma Francis, Kenneth (Barbara), Douglas and Joan.

Predeceased by her siblings, Victor, Donald, Grace, Irene, Andrew, Robert, Gilbert and Gordon.

Dear aunt to many nieces and nephews.

She will be sadly missed by her extended family, close friends and all who knew and loved her. 

WOOD, Joyce Helen   -  Joyce died on June 14, 2022, age 90. 

She was born on October 28, 1931.

She was the daughter of Edgar and Daisy Wood, the youngest of their eight children. 

Williams Owen MyfanwyWILLIAMS-OWEN, Myfanwy   - April 22, 1936 - June 13, 2022

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Myfanwy (Myfi) Williams-Owen.

She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

She was born in Llysfaen, North Wales and moved to Canada in 1967 to work as a nurse in Toronto.

She was an avid traveller who explored the world.

She loved the outdoors and the Beaches where she lived.

She met her late husband Gareth Owen at Dewi- Sant Welsh Church and spent many wonderful experiences with him.

ROSS, Barbara Helen  -  On June 13, 2022, Barbara passed away peacefully, at the Wexford Residence, at the age of 94.

She was the wife of the late Gordon Ross, and mother of the late Joseph and Douglas Ross.

Gough LindaGOUGH, Linda Elizabeth (nee CHRISTENSEN)   -  Passed away on Monday, June 13th, in her 77th year, after a brief illness.

She was predeceased by her parents, Edna and Christen Christensen.

Loving mother to Jason Gough (wife Jeanie and Ace), and loving wife and best friend to husband, Carl Wesley Jean for 38 years.

Greatly loved and missed by Sister/Cousin, Barbara Anne Bohlin (Gunars); many cousins in Norway; friends in Canada including extended family in the Stratford area, and in the U.S.A.

Linda loved Kenya and the lifelong friends she made there, and as a result, was fluent in Swahili. 

Green EleanorGREEN, Eleanor "Grace" (nee DAWE)   -   October 18, 1932 - June 13, 2022

Passed away peacefully, in her 90th year, on Monday, June 13, 2022.

She was born in her beloved St. John's, Newfoundland and relocated at 17 to Toronto, Ontario.

Grace raised her family in Willowdale, and after 19 years with North York Hydro, she retired moving to Richmond Hill. She enjoyed condo living for 24 years before joining her daughter Wendy in Ottawa.

Grace was preceded in death by her parents, Helena (Lush) and Samuel; her dear brothers, Reginald and John; and her sisters Violet and Rosalind. She is survived by her daughters, Debra (Donald) Carey, and Wendy (Jon) Russell.

She was the proud grandmother of Tyler (Laurel) Carey; Rachel (Michael) McGrath; Ryan (Hannah) Balsdon; Rebecca (Thomas) Corrigan; and Rowan Russell.

HOLMES, Norman Joseph   -  After a wonderful and joyous life filled with loving and giving, the family of Norman Holmes announce his peaceful passing from this earth on June 13, 2022, in his 87th year.

Loving and caring father of Craig and his wife Jennifer, proud grandpa of Kaitlyn and Cameron.

Shura GenevieveSHURA, Genevieve   -  Passed away peacefully, at Toronto Grace Hospital, on Monday, June 13, 2022, at 91 years of age.

Loving wife of the late George William Kidd. Survived by sister, Mary Hynes.

Predeceased by brothers, Walter and Joseph Shura; and Sister, Elizabeth "betty" Bain. 

Daughter of the late Anna and Peter Shura.

Born in Brightstone, Manitoba, on November 11, 1930, she moved to Toronto around 1950, lived with family members, and she met George Kidd soon after.

She worked for Dineen Construction for 31 years as the Executive Secretary.

Genevieve and George were avid sailors, sailing out of Midland, Ontario. Sailing adventures included their four nephews and teaching them how to sail. 

HOLLETT, Dorcas Violetta   - Vi joined her parents, sister and brothers in Heaven, on Monday, June 13, 2022.

She will be missed by all her nieces, nephews and anyone who called her "Auntie Vi".

SAMU, Peter  -  On June 12, 2022, Peter Constantin Samu, M.D., passed away at Princess Margaret Hospital.

Born in Cluj, Romania, a Holocaust survivor, Peter lived in Venezuela, attended high school in Barbados, later arriving in Canada in 1954.

After graduating from the University of Toronto and a residency at Stanford, he became an accomplished radiologist and entrepreneur.

RAYMOND, David Anthony   -   Died on June 12. 2022, at Mississauga Hospital of Septicaemia and Heart Failure.

Tony was born in Montréal in 1932, the only son of the late Charles Raymond and Frances Johanna Jackson.

He attended school in Montréal, Halifax, Ottawa, Brantford, and Toronto, graduating in 1958 with a BCom from Trinity College of the University of Toronto.

HUTCHISON, Donna Heather   - Peacefully, at home, on Sunday, June 12, 2022.

Heather was the daughter of the late Holmes and Dorothy Hutchison.

She was the much-loved sister of the late Carmlee McNally (the late Bill), Marlene Arnold ( the late Arthur), Elaine Bell (Bob), Bernadette Skene (Dave), the late Robert (Carmen), the late Diane Vaughan (Clare), David (Susie), the late Stanley (the late (Lynne), John (Joanne), Gary (Jane), and Stephen (Susan), 26 nephews and nieces, and many grand nephews and nieces.

McLaughlin RobertMcLAUGHLIN, Robert (Bob)    - December 29, 1934 - June 12, 2022

Bob passed away, after a lengthy battle with several illnesses, on June 12, 2022.

Greatly missed by his wife of 43 years, Eva.

Dear brother of Peggy (Ron), Paul (Anne) and Brian (Sheila). Proud uncle and great-uncle.

Reigning patriarch of the McLaughlin, Wright and Nisbet families. 

Bob loved all sports. He was especially proud to be associated with the Richmond Hill Dynes, 1972 world softball champions. 

He enjoyed nothing more than chatting with friends and neighbours, especially the younger generation, with whom he shared life-stories and experiences.
