Garcia TonyGARCIA, Anthony Michael 'Tony' - Anthony, fondly remembered as Tony, passed away on Friday, July 20, 2018 at the age of 55.

A native of Panama City, Tony attended Rutherford High School and continued on to Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississippi. Tony was a member of the tennis team and the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, and graduated with a B.S. in Finance.

In 2000, Tony received his Masters of Business Administration from Northwestern Kellogg School of Management. Tony was an avid supporter of his alma mater and received Delta State University’s Alumnus of the Year Award in 2014.

Tony was a well-respected financial services executive known for his warmth, authenticity, and leadership. Over the course of his career, Tony held positions at Allstate, HSBC, TIAA-CREF, Western & Southern, and most recently was President and CEO of Foresters Financial in Toronto, Canada.

He also served on the boards of many organizations including LIMRA/LOMA, The American College of Financial Services, The American Council of Life Insurers, The Cary M. Maguire Center for Ethics in Financial Services, and The Providence Healthcare Foundation.

Tony had a strong faith in God and was a loyal servant of the Lord during his time on earth. He was a pillar of strength for everyone in his life and was the personification of generosity, compassion, and moral integrity. He so deeply cared about the wellbeing of others and was a confidant, friend, and mentor to many. But most importantly, he was a man who would do anything for his family.

Tony’s greatest source of pride was his wife, Donna, and their five children. Tony led his family by example, instilling in his children the importance of gratitude, respect, humility, and service to others. He was a doting husband and father who let his family know, each and every day, just how much he loved them.

Tony is survived by the love of his life and wife of 33 years, Donna (neé Ashby), daughter Kristen (Phillip), sons Anthony II, Alex, Ayden, and Adam, his mother Beatrice (neé Nini), his brothers Steven (Lisa), Michael (Dona), Dennis (Rhonda), his in-laws Lynda and Grover Shannon, Donna’s siblings Kim and Ray, and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Mario Garcia.

So many lives have been enriched and blessed by their interactions with Tony. He will be sorely missed.

A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Saturday, August 4th at Memphis Funeral Home in Bartlett, Tennessee. Canadian arrangements entrusted with Thompson funeral home, Aurora, Ontario.
