Di Giovanni FilomenaDI GIOVANNI, Filomena (Berardinelli) - It is with great sadness the family of Filomena Di Giovanni announce her passing at Villa Colombo on August 24, 2018 at the age of 89.

Filomena (or Ena, as friends and family called her), was vibrant and talented. A gifted seamstress, an excellent knitter, a stellar cook and gardener, she delighted in sharing her work with those she loved. She was immensely active in her church community and devoted to the philanthropic efforts of St Charles Borromeo and beyond.

In addition to the regular help she offered the parish in its day-to-day operations, she eagerly participated in the Cancer Society’s yearly Daffodil Drive and supported refugees in developing countries. Even in doing so, she always made time for her family whom she cherished dearly. Filomena’s sociable and charismatic qualities toward family and friends, in addition to her boundlessly generous heart, will be forever missed as she re-joins her husband Franco in heaven.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children Delio (Maureen) and Sandra (Ken Koski).

Forever adored by her grandchildren Andrea (Mark), Jessica, Kristina and Matthew (Tina); her memory honoured by her great-grandchildren, Sophia, Emma, Madeline, Dominic, Clara, Norah, Franco and Marina.

She will be sadly missed by her sister Carina (Claudio; predeceased) and her family: her children, Morena (Harley), Sonia (Kevin), and Steven (Zelka); Carina’s grandchildren, Adam (Toni), Tiffany, Rebecca (Kyle), Stefano, and Tatyana and great grandchild Mario. She will also be remembered by her sister-in-law Iolanda (Victorio; predeceased) and her family, Rita, Lucy, Steve and Alina.

Visitations will be held at Bernardo Funeral Home, Toronto on Thursday from 2-4, 6-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Charles Borromeo Church (811 Lawrence Ave. W., at Dufferin St.) on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Toronto.

For the last 13 years, Filomena struggled with Alzheimer’s Disease. The people at Villa Colombo aided Filomena and her family through this difficult journey. The family would like to thank Dr. David Sedran for his kindness and support. We would also like to thank the Fidiani Wing fifth-floor staff. The compassion and above-and-beyond care they’ve provided, especially in her final days, was truly appreciated. There are not enough words to express our gratitude.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Villa Charities Foundation.
