HAYGARTH, Simone "Doris" Simone "Doris" Haygarth - 104 years old, passed away quietly in her sleep on October 1, 2018.
For 31 years Simone was a loving stay at home wife and mother and at the age of 50 she started to work for Sears Catalogue.
She retired when she was 75 years old.
Simone has been a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church, East York, Ontario, since its founding in 1928 and faithfully attended mass weekly until she was 100 years old.
Simone was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and Holy Cross Seniors group. Simone was predeceased by William "Bill" her husband of 57 years, son Wallace (Wally), granddaughter Kerry Leigh Haygarth; sons-in-law Bert Chapman, Jim Huffman and by six sisters and four brothers.
She was the treasured matriarch of a large and loving family. Memories of Simone will be cherished by 4 generations of descendants. She was Mum to daughter Helen Huffman, daughter-in-law Evelyn (Jill) Haygarth, daughter Doreen and husband Edward Wigglesworth, daughter Margaret Chapman and son Paul Haygarth; she was a loving Grandma to 19 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Simone will also be sadly missed by her only surviving sister Yvonne McNeill and will be fondly remembered by her many nieces, nephews and friends.
The family extends their gratitude to the staff at Fountain View Care Community for the support and care they gave Simone in her final days.
The family will receive friends at the Holy Cross Catholic Funeral Home, 211 Langstaff Road East, from 12:00 until 1:15 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2018. A Funeral Mass of Christian burial will take place within the funeral home Chapel on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 1:30 p.m.
