Magennis DesmondMAGENNIS, Desmond - Died December 26, 2018 at Sunnybrook Hospital.

Desmond is predeceased by his wife Dympna (2013) and daughter Adrienne (2017).

He will be sadly missed by his daughters Elaine (Colin), Colleen, and son Michael (Michelle) and by his grandchildren Ciara, Bronwyn, Teagan and Maddox.

Also by his brothers Eamon predeceased (Moira), Seamus predeceased (Sheila), Aidan (Nancy), Gerrard (Jean), Oliver predeceased (Theresa), Brendan predeceased, and sister May (Michael) Kenny.

Desmond was born in Blackrock, County Louth. After working in Rhodesia he emigrated to Canada in 1957. He married Dympna Lambert in July 1958 in Montreal. They later moved to Toronto where they raised their four children.

He had a passion for athletics having played Gaelic football and hurling both in Ireland and in Toronto with the GAA.

Desmond earned his university degree from Sir George Williams University. He worked in both the private and public sectors as an accountant throughout his career. He will be sadly missed by many friends in Canada and Ireland.

Our thanks to the staff at the numerous facilities that assisted him, with special mention to the staff at Sunnybrook Hospital.

Friends will be received at DeMarco Funeral Home, Toronto, on Thursday, January 3, 2019 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral mass will take place at St. Margaret of Scotland Church, 222 Ridley Blvd. Toronto on Friday, January 4, 2019 @ 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Palliative Care Unit at Sunnybrook Hospital (K Ward) would be appreciated by the family.
