White JoyWHITE, Joy Elaine - Passed away on January 2, 2019.

As we celebrate the life of Joy Elaine White we all have different memories and remembrances. She was a very special lady to both family and friends. She was born in the Kitchener Waterloo area on November 23rd, 1928 as the fourth child in a family of five children to Annie and Milton Hofstetter.

As a young girl she attended Riverbank school, helped with chores on the farm (peeled potatoes for dinner and walked the cows down the Lane with her brother Clair) and attended Sunday School at Zion United Church. She went to K-W Collegiate for high school to take typing, shorthand and bookkeeping.

Using her skills, Joy worked as a teller in a bank (where they called her 'eagle eye'). Having a close affiliation with Muskoka Baptist Conference, Joy met Margaret and Charlie Hare and developed a special connection with them who became like a second Mom and Dad to her.

She later lived with the Hares in Dundas when she worked for the Fellowship of Baptist Churches and then moved to Toronto to be a secretary for the Gideons and also for the Engineering department at the University of Toronto.

She married Gordon White on June 20, 1964 at Knox Presbyterian and they began their life together on Spring Garden Ave. where they attended the church across the street and raised their two children David and Maryann. She took in work typing and bookkeeping while her kids grew up and worked hard as a mother and homemaker.

Her home was always filled with love, good food, good company and it was clean too! We see God's faithfulness in both guiding and providing Joy's life with much happiness and meaning.

Visitation will be held at Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, Markhan on Saturday, January 5th, 2019 from 11:00am - 1:00pm. The service will take place in the chapel at 1:00 pm.
