SCHMITZ-HERTZBERG, Kathleen (nee BROOKHOUSE)   - Died peacefully on Tuesday, January 29, 2019 just three weeks shy of her 103rd birthday.

She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years Dr. Friedrich Schmitz-Hertzberg.

She leaves behind three children Evelyn Schmitz-Hertzberg (George Ivanoff), Andreas Schmitz-Hertzberg and Martin Schmitz-Hertzberg (Sylvia).

She will be missed by her eight grandchildren Rebecca, Hannah and Benjamin; Erik, Matthew and Nicholas; Stephanie and Emily; and her one great-grandchild Grace.

Kathleen's life was dedicated to Quaker service, first in England and Germany before, during and after WWII and then in Ontario.

Kathleen worked for the Canadian Friends Service Committee, Toronto Monthly Meeting and Canadian Yearly Meeting, as well as social programs in her community of Pickering and Durham Region.

Visitation will take place on Monday, February 4 at the Yonge Street Quaker Meeting House in Newmarket from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

The meeting for worship for burial will begin at 11 a.m. followed by the burial. A Memorial Meeting to celebrate the Grace of God in her life will be held at the Toronto Monthly Meeting (60 Lowther Ave.) sometime in the near future.

Donations may be made in her name to the Canadian Friends Service Committee (quakerservice.ca) and/or Canadian Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (quaker.ca).
