Trunk OwenTRUNK, Owen Braithwaite  - It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our dearest Captain Owen Braithwaite Trunk, on Sunday, February 10th, 2019.

A wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and son-in-law, Owen left us just two days shy of his 86th birthday.

In amazingly good health, right to the end, his determination often won in his long fight with dementia.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years Dorene, his daughter Val (George), sons Phil (Kris) and Brad (Carrol), and sister Mavis (Ray). Dearly loved by his grandchildren Brandy (Jason), Jennifer, Jessica, and Robert. Fondly remembered by his many lifelong best friends.

Owen fulfilled his childhood dream of becoming a pilot, even purchasing a Taylorcraft airplane to accumulate flying hours. He was accepted by T.C.A. (Air Canada) in 1955 and graduated to become one of their youngest captains. In his 35 years as a commercial airline pilot, Owen was fortunate to make many visits abroad. He and Dorene enjoyed numerous trips, cruises, and many weekends with friends and their families.

Our deepest thanks to everyone at Georgian Bay General Hospital for their kindness and care.

As per Owen’s wishes, he has been cremated. A fond memories service will be held at Marshall Funeral Home,  Richmond Hill on Thursday, February 14th, 2019 at 7 P.M. with visitation a half an hour prior. Reception to follow.

Donations can be made to the MS Society of Canada.
