Angeloni GianniANGELONI, Giovanni 'Gianni' - It is with heartfelt sadness that we inform you that Giovanni passed away on July 4, 2019, with his family by his side.

Gianni was genuinely loved by his wife, Elsa (nee Di Felice) and his three daughters; Sonia (Lucien), Elena (Niall) and Denise.

Gianni will be deeply missed by his six grandchildren, Paula (Michael), Alessia (Anthony), Lucas, Sean, Michael and Kieran, and by his three great-grandchildren, Noah, Benjamin and Asher.

Gianni was born to a farming family in the town of Varano, near Fabriano, in Le Marche, Italy. Deciding that he did not want to be a farmer, he left Italy at the age of 19 to move to France. Once there, he worked in the mines and factories, quickly learning to speak French.

In 1954, he immigrated to Canada. He became a carpenter and joined the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners. In 1958, he met his wife Elsa while sailing back to Canada. They married in 1959 and settled in Toronto, where he worked as a Carpenter’s Foreman with Ontario Hydro for 27 years.

Gianni’s greatest joy came from spending time with his family, which filled him with pride. He was known for his ability to fix anything and for his skill as a card player. He also loved it when people told him that he looked younger than his age! During his last year, Gianni especially loved watching his great grand-children play in his family home.

Visitation wil  be held on Sunday July 7, 2019 from 2pm to 4pm & 6pm to 9pm at Bernardo Funeral Home, Albion Chapel, Etobicoke. The Funeral Mass will take place on Monday July 8, 2019 at 10am at St. Roch’s Catholic Church, 2889 Islington Ave; Toronto.

For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
