PAVLYAK, Gabriella  -  (May 20, 1930 - July 1 2019)  -  It is with great sadness the family of Gabriella Pavlyak announce her passing, peacefully in her sleep on 1 July, 2019 at Elginwood Long Term Care.

She is survived by Gyula (Julius), husband of close to 7 decades, children Dee and Eric, and grandchildren Marianne, Patrick, Alex and Michael.

Born and married in Hungary, Gabi and Gyula relocated to Holland in 1956, then on to England a few years later, learning the language, customs and important facts like never to boil an English sausage. In 1986, new horizons beckoned and they hopped the pond to Canada, settling in Richmond Hill.

She loved her family, adored playing badminton and really, really, REALLY loved laughing. If laughter was money, she was the richest woman in the world. Alzheimer’s may have robbed her of her own memories, but not ours of her. She enriched every life she touched and will be sorely missed.

Whatever awaits beyond this realm, it’s a fairly safe bet that Gabi has already found the badminton court and has made a bunch of new friends to share jokes with. Should you be fortunate enough to meet her in whatever awaits us all, we heartily recommend her company to you. She was, and always will be, the best.

We are also immensely grateful to the wonderful staff at Elginwood for their dedicated care.

Private memorial service will be held.

Donations in her memory can be made to The Alzheimer Society of York Region.
