GATT, Manuela 'Lina' (nee Magro)  -  With sadness the family of the late Manuela 'Lina' (nee Magro) Gatt announce her passing at St. Joe’s Hospital, Toronto on September 10, 2019 after a courageous battle with dementia and other health complication at the age of 77 years.

Born in Zabbar, Malta on July 3, 1942 she was the daughter of the late Sam and Nina (nee: Bonello) Magro.

Lina’s family relocated to Toronto, Canada with her family and lived in various places.  Lina was often heard telling the story of how her parents rented a room on the top floor of their home to a very special man named Dominic Gatt. Unknown to her parents at the time Dominic was from Valletta, Malta and would later become the love of Lina’s life and future son-in-law in February 1960.

Beside her parents and her late husband she was predeceased by her only sister Josephine Grech.

Leaving with fond and precious memories are her children Karen, Raymond (Rhyette), granddaughters Melissa, Patricia, brother Vince along with extended family and those who had the privilege of recognizing and calling Lina a friend.

She was a very generous woman who would go out of her way to help anyone in need.  Lina enjoyed going to Bingo at the church where soon her social network grew.  She also enjoyed trips to Florida, Vegas, Myrtle Beach with close friends like Doris and Joe.  She enjoyed working at Queensway Hospital for a while with her very dear friend Judith.  Lina and Dominic were very blessed to have Judith and Getu in their life through the good times and especially in the difficult times.

Lina’s family will be accepting visitors at Lynett Funeral Home (3299 Dundas Street West, Toronto) on Sunday, September 15, 2019 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm where all are encouraged to enter through the Fisken Avenue entrance.

Lina was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and a catholic all of which she will be forever remembered. God bless you Lina…the wait is over…you will soon join Dominic!
