Kan JohnKAM, John Jr - Died on November 18, 2019 at 8:39 p.m. in Toronto, Ontario surrounded by his loved ones.

John loved going to Trinidad every year for Carnival, being a part of Caribana each year, his collection of Antiques/precious gems and stamp collecting. Not necessarily in that order. He hated vegetables and hypocrites. Not necessarily in that order.

John was born on June 9, 1951 to Wah Chew and Jean Kam in St. James, Trinidad. He attended Woodbrook Secondary School and immigrated to Toronto when he was 18 yrs old. He then began working for Toronto City Hall as a Budget Analyst where he had a successful career for 34 years and retired at the age of 52.

John is survived by his mother, Jean Kam; his sister Joan Mungal (Shannon); his other sister Christine Durynek (Bernie); his brother Sterling Kam (Cathy); his nieces Natasha Mungal, Ashley Kam, Sarah Frances Durynek; his nephews Nicholas Mungal, Christopher Kam; his great-nieces Abby Mungal, Emma Mungal; his best friend Kai; and many other family members and friends who loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Wah Chew (John) Kam, Sr.; grandparents Cassim and Mim Ali.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2019  at Highland Funeral Home, Scarborough from 2 – 4 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 22, 2019 at Holy Spirit Parish, 3526 Sheppard Ave East, Scarborough, Ont. at 10 a.m.

Flowers can be received at the funeral home or if you prefer, make a donation to a kidney foundation of your choice.
