BRAENDEL, Joan Ada (Tuck) - Lovingly known as Mimere, of Thornhill, Ontario, was called home to the Lord in the early hours of Saturday March 14, 2020.
She will be dearly missed by her long friend and companion, Jamie Annett; and her loving daughters Sue Braendel (deceased); Nancy Fisher; Elizabeth Jane Braendel; Diane Barton (deceased); Barbara (Barbie Doll) Braendel; and Brenda Braendel.
Joan was a proud Mimere sharing her love and laugher to her Miss Ellie - Kelly Braendel and all of her grandchildren – Nicole; Sean; Margo; Kyle; James; Sara; Corey; Cody; Josee; Pierre; Stephane and all of her beloved great-grandchildren.
Joan was born on June 3, 1934 in Lachine, Quebec and married William Eugene Braendel (deceased) on November 1, 1952 and although they divorced in 1975 (circa) they continued to amicably raise their beloved daughters and for Joan follow a new path of working outside the home as a single mother.
She worked at Carefree Lodge and then at Addition Research Foundation becoming a Certified Addiction Counsellor. Her call of helping others through their addictions, homeliness, mental health issues and abuse issues lead her to work at Blue Doors Shelter.
She also gave her time and love to people who needed the services of Out of the Cold; and Good Sheppard Mission. She was an active member of St Lukes Parish – giving her time and sharing her faith in Bible Study Classes.
Joan enjoyed many hours with fellow seniors at the Thornhill Senior Club bringing much love and laughter and always warming hearts with her radiant smile.
