MOSTOV, Alec - Passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2020 at home with his family by his side, after a near year long battle with pancreatic cancer.
As with all things, he faced his illness with his trademark class and joyful smile.
Loving father to his children, Jarrod Mostov, Kara and Brian Kruger.
Devoted son to the late Julius and Pola Mostov, dear brother to Linda and Stuart Peikes, the late Carl Mostov and the late Melvin Mostov.
Adoring uncle to Chandra Mostov, J.B. Peikes and Serena Wolfond, Tyler Peikes and Megan Cooney and Marly Peikes.
Extremely proud great-uncle to Jonathan, Thea, Cory, Rory, Jesse, Addie, Shelby and Cecily.
Alec was born during the war in Kazakhstan. His earliest years were in a labour camp and then a displaced persons' camp in Germany. He arrived in Canada weeks away from his seventh birthday and, from there, he created an incredible life filled with family, friends and lots of laughs.
Whether it was hanging out at Starbucks, playing golf or fishing, "Arctic Al the Dandy of the North" always managed to have a good time and make friends along the way.
We wish to thank Dr. Marnie Howe, Mark Naiman and all the staff at the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care for their tireless support and compassion. Also, Dr. Robert Wald for his years of kind and attentive care.
