Somerville JanetSOMERVILLE, Janet Beatrice (Orr) - Janet Orr was born May 20, 1958 at Oakville General Hospital to Joseph and Sophie Orr (both deceased), and married Robert Somerville on October 19, 1985.

Janet passed away June 15, 2020 at the West Nipissing General Hospital near her cottage.

She is survived by her husband Robert, daughter Mary, and her brother Brian Orr and his wife Yvette.

Janet graduated from Lorne Park Secondary school as an Ontario Scholar, and with full scholarship from Goodyear graduated with an Honours BComm from McMaster University.

She entered GE’s management development program and worked as an HR manager with that firm, later taking positions in aerospace and control automation with Honeywell, McDonnell Douglas, and Spar Aerospace. At Spar she led recruitment and hiring of the software engineers that built The CanadaArm.

Janet was a faithful Christian who died with no fear. She always saw the glass as half full inspite of health challenges and will be dearly missed by her family.

Arrangements entrusted with Skinner and Middlebrook funeral home. Service will be held at Springcreek cemetery, Mississauga on Friday, June 19th. 

**Subject to certain conditions, the COVID-19 maximum attendance restriction allows for 30 per cent capacity for indoor funerals and visitations, and 50 attendees for outdoor funeral services if allowed by venue ie. cemetery OUTDOOR FUNERALS & VISITATIONS * The persons conducting the funeral must ensure that no more than 50 people are in attendance. * All persons attending the gathering must remain at least two metres apart from each other and from persons conducting the funeral unless they are members of the same household. Wearing of masks, or face coverings, by everyone is mandatory. This includes all staff and attendees (Paper disposable masks are sufficient, not N95. Current research indicates that masks contribute significantly to the reduction of infection.
