Di Capo VitoDI CAPO, Vito - It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Vito on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the age of 90.

He is survived by his beloved wife Letizia of 53 years.

Very proud father to his sons Alfonso and Pasquale [Jennifer] and his daughter Lora [Vaios Petsis].

Nonno to his four cherished grandchildren: Madison, Matthew, Jake and Mackenzie.

Beloved brother-in-law to Alberto & Giovanna Persechino, Biagina & the late Angelo Bonfitto, Gabriele & Maria Giancristofaro, Salvatore & Giuseppina Vita and Egidio & Teresa Vita.

Vito will be remembered in the hearts of his many cousins, nieces, nephews as well as family and friends near and abroad.

Vito was an only child, born to parents Calogera Tallarita and Alfonso Di Capo on August 15, 1930 in the town of Cattolica Eraclea in the Province of Agrigento, Sicily, Italy.

In 1966 he immigrated to Montreal, Canada where through the introduction of a mutual friend, he met the love of his life, Letizia Vita. Six months later in 1967 they were married, going on to have 3 children.

In the early 1980s, Vito anticipated a brighter future in Ontario. He started to commute weekly between Montreal and Toronto to be with his young family while actively searching for a new home and new opportunities. In 1984, he sacrificed everything and moved his family to Toronto, ultimately bringing his trade and craft to the new city - a classic shave and a cut from a professional barber.

As a devout Catholic, Vito’s selflessness, compassion and integrity were the foundation of the Di Capo family values and an inspiration to all who knew him. His greatest pride and joy were his wife, his children and his grandchildren, whom he adored. Vito was happiest spending time with family and watching his children pursue their dreams and mature into distinguished adults.

As his health declined in his later years of life, Vito continued to endure daily dialysis treatments for many years. We are deeply grateful to the doctors, nurses and staff at Humber River Hospital Dialysis unit for the care and compassion he received. The family would also like to extend their utmost gratitude to his primary caregiver Cleo.

Vito will be deeply missed by many, but most of all by his loving wife Letizia, his lifelong partner who cared for him every day with love and devotion.

Due to provincial restrictions, the family is holding a private service. When possible a mass and celebration of life will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Humber River Hospital Foundation – Dialysis Unit, where Vito Di Capo courageously received dialysis treatments for almost 20 years. Donations can be made online at www.hrhfoundation.ca or by phone at 416.242.1000 ext. 81500.

The family thanks you all for your condolences, kind words and support.
