Boxall LionelBOXALL, Lionel Lawrence - (1937 - 2020) - With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Lionel Boxall at the Newmarket Health Centre on the morning of December 17, 2020.

Devoted husband of 60 years to Christel Boxall. Loving father of Daniele Brunino (Bernie) and Jacquie Emerson (Allan). Proud grandfather of Alex (Corina), Rachel, Sophia, and Noah.

Cherished by his sister Vera Dennehy (Terry) and his nephews, Sean (Amy), Kevin (Lesley), and Mitchell (Joanne).

Loved by many friends and relatives in England and Canada.

Lionel lived a courageous and rich life. Born in England in 1937, he moved to Venezuela with his wife Christel for 2 ½ years before bringing his family to Canada. Educated in lithography, he had a successful career with corporate printing before starting his own printing business at 50 years of age.

Lionel was an extraordinary man with remarkable intelligence and wit. He had a flair for languages, picking up Spanish and bits of German alongside his native English. Always quick to tell a joke and get his family laughing. Never far away from breaking into little bursts of song.

He leaves us after a brief battle with covid-19 and a lengthy and brave struggle with Dementia. Even as all of those incredible parts of him began to fade, the love for his family never wavered. His face lit up with every visit, and he boasted about every letter and card he received. His biggest wish was family time up at the cottage – a place that because of him, we are all lucky to enjoy.

Arrangements entrusted with Roadhouse and Rose funeral home, Newmarket. A celebration of life is planned for Summer 2021 when we can all be together again.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society of York Region would be greatly appreciated.

Special thanks to the staff at the Newmarket Healthcare Centre for their wonderful care.

The family kindly asks that you wear masks and protect the vulnerable.
