Yarlett Catherine CathieYARLETT, Catherine Anne 'Cathie' (Hall) - (15 June, 194730 December, 2020)

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the death of a very loving wife, mother, nana, daughter, and good friend to so many.

Born in the baby boomer era to the wonderful and loving family of Basil and Rita Hall and four older brothers, the late Basil Jr (Gisele), Tom (Marilyn), the late Brian (Debora), Peter (Linda) all growing up in North York.

While a Loretto Abbey student, Cathie met Michael Yarlett during grade 12 summer school at Earl Haig Collegiate and they enjoyed many teen dances at St Gabriel’s Parish, often hosted by a young parish priest, named Father Paul Cusack, who has remained a strong mentor and guide to them through 51 years of marriage.

Mike and Cathie were married on September 12, 1969 and saw the birth of daughters, Michelle and Heather (Lawrence) while living in their first home located in North York. The family moved to Thornhill in 1977 where they were blessed with three more daughters Andrea (Domenic), Kristen, and Lindsay (Joey). In addition to raising their five daughters in their Thornhill home, they raised granddaughter Meghan. Cathie was also a loving nana to grandchildren Rossi, Brooklyn, Aileen, and Andrew, and step grandchildren children Violet and Vinny.

Cathie was a great cook and skilled with the sewing machine. She was a stay-at-home mother until their 5 children were in school. She occupied herself making dresses for her girls plus storing and distributing cookies for the local Girl Guide chapters.

Cathie, a former business graduate of Centennial College, began a career in real estate. She remained with her original office, through multiple growth years and name changes. She was a top agent and remained with Royal LePage, Your Community Real Estate up until her death.

Since moving to Thornhill in 1977, Cathie was continually involved in her community and various clubs in Thornhill and throughout York Region.

Cathie always wore many hats. She was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church Parish Council. She served as Vice-President of the Thornhill Figure Skating Club. She was the President of the Thornhill Newcomers Club and involved with the Girl Guides. Cathie always loved to play bridge and developed many strong relationships, which remained to this day. She loved her involvement with politics and a special group of ladies called the T.W.I.T’s which made various outings to places and lunches in the Greater Toronto Area. She also volunteered in fundraising with The Canadian Cancer Society and many community and neighbourhood events.

For several years Cathie battled Rheumatoid Arthritis to which she succumbed to complications of the disease at Orillia Memorial Hospital on December 30th, 2020.

Arrangements entrusted with Kane-Jerrett funeral home. Due to the current COVID Restrictions, a private funeral service will be held. The Funeral Mass will be livestreamed for viewing on Tuesday January 4, 2021 at 11am. The link can be found at http://ipickart.ca/stream/Yarlett/ and will be available for 30 days.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate donations to the Arthritis Society of Canada or a charity of your choice.
