Fletcher BenFLETCHER, Benjamin Andrew - Left this earthly home peacefully on Christmas day December 25, 2020.

Beloved husband of Grace Fletcher (Steen). They were married for 62½ years (June 21, 1958).

Loving Dad of Ruth (Alf Butchereit), Pam (Wayne Lunau) and Bev (Chris Rupke).

Cherished Grampa of Ryan (Erin), Jeff (Janice), Cheryl and Brenda. Proud + fun great-Grampa of Benjamin and Jeremiah Butchereit.

Benjamin Andrew Fletcher was born on November 30th, 1930 to Lucian and Meta Fletcher in Bridgetown, Barbados. He was the 4th of 6 children – Robbie, Willie, Maggie, Ben, Olive, Dudley. They were a very adventurous and mischievous bunch. When he finished school he worked at Da Costa.

He came to Toronto, Canada in August 1954 at the age of 23. He met Grace Steen at a church conference in Rochester, New York in May of 1955. They met again at the same place in May 1957 and starting dating long distance (it was a 12 hour drive to where Grace lived in Boston). By October 1957 they had had enough of long distance dating and got engaged at another church conference, in Toronto this time. They were married on June 21st, 1958. They were blessed with 3 daughters in quick succession, Ruth, Pam and Bev.

Throughout his life he always found time to help others. With his extensive volunteer help at the church and his community, he was nominated and selected to receive the City of Toronto Volunteer of the Year Award in 2001, which was presented to him in a ceremony at City Hall.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no in person service or reception can be held at this time. There will be an online service held on Saturday, January 9th, 2021 at 1:00 pm (link to be determined).
