Plestid JoanPLESTID, Joan Mary (nee Steele) - It is with great sadness that we mourn the death of Joan Plestid. Joan passed away at home, Monday February 15, 2021, with her children at her side, in her 87th year.

Joan was beloved by everyone whose life she touched. More than a wife to Ernie she was a true partner in life, and even in business. She worked, volunteered, raised 7 children, and still found time to help many others.

When she and Ernie lost their eldest daughter Deina to cancer, it brought them closer together. They turned to each other and their faith to find strength. And when she and the family lost her dear granddaughter, Rebecca, she was able to be a source of strength.

Over the years she hosted many gatherings and welcomed extended family and friends into her home with open arms. She planned annual family trips, and not only made sure her family had great memories to look back on, but made sure they knew the value of family.

She will be lovingly remembered by family & friends, former co-workers from Rosalie Hall, Misericordia Sisters & Friends, her friends from the aquatic program, & many helpful neighbours.

Joan’s love, caring, wisdom, and strength will be missed by all the lives she has touched, and we thank her for the opportunity to share in her life.

Beloved mother to Cathy, Elizabeth (Gord Ransome), John (Corina Pries), Joan (Al Beaulieu), Kim, & Theresa (Zee Nasim). Granny to Patrick, Ryan, Brendan, Meaghan & Zayne. Dear sister to Joyce Cork.

Predeceased by her loving husband Ernie, daughter Deina, granddaughter Rebecca Ransome, parents Jack & Elizabeth Steele, brothers John and Gordon, and sister Viola.

Donations to Rosalie Hall in Scarborough would be appreciated by Joan.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private funeral with livestream service will be held on Saturday at Paul O’Connor Funeral home, Scarborough.  Interment at Pine Hills Cemetery, Scarborough.
