AMENTA, Salvatore - A long time resident of Toronto, Canada, and formerly from Sicily, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, February 28, 2021, just shy of his 95th birthday.
Son of the late Giuseppe Amenta and Concetta (Amenta), he was born in Canicattini Bagni, province of Siracusa, Sicily on March 11, 1926.
Salvatore married his wife Concettina Calleri on October 24, 1948 and emigrated to Toronto in 1965 where he worked at C&M Products as a spot welder until his retirement.
Affectionately remembered as Nonno Turiddu by his loving family, including his daughter Tina (Sam), son Paul (Maria), his grandchildren Maria (Steve), Corrado (Natasha), Steven (Stacey), Michael (Fiancé Amanda), Celine, and Marcus, as well as his great grandchildren Julia, Luke, Gabriel, Angela, Sabrina, and Sofia.
Salvatore is predeceased by his loving wife of 70 years, Concettina, his brothers Sebastiano (Nancy), Paolo (Maria), and his sister Paolina (Santo).
Salvatore was also affectionately known as Zio Turiddu and Don Turiddu.
He will be missed by his many family and friends in both Sicily and Toronto.
