Tomchak TedTOMCHAK, Ted J.  - 1936 - 2021 It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our beloved Ted Tomchak, as a result of a fall, on April 13, 2021.

Ted was born in Mariampol, Poland and at the commencement of World War II was taken away to Russia with his family.

Fortunately they were released in 1942 and took a circuitous route to India where he had a most enjoyable life.

Ted was predeceased by his father who was killed in Normandy in 1944, his mother, Jozefa, who died in 1979 and his brother, Henry, in 1981.

The family moved to Sault Ste. Marie which became Ted's home town.

Ted was a great athlete and excelled in basketball, where it was said that he was the best basketball player ever to come from the Soo!

He took his Physical Education Degree at University of New Brunswick where he also played basketball.

Moving to Toronto, he was employed by The Telegram and then the Toronto Star for thirty years. He was a kind and gentle man who really cared about people, and was highly respected by his colleagues.

Married to the love of his life, Christine, for fifty-two years, they have a son, Kenneth, who has a lovely wife Leena, and grandson, Dylan.

Because of COVID-19, the family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be most appreciated.
