Alevy RoseALEVY, Rose (1917-2021) - On Wednesday, May 5, 2021.

Rose's long life was filled with the joy she gave and received from her family, friends, work family, and her volunteer activities.

Rose will be missed as the loving mother of Donna Smith (Larry Smith) and Martin Alevy (Bilha Alevy) and grandmother of Andrew (Magda), Carrie (Dan), Rachel, (Eric) and Ian (Jessica).

She was also the great-grandmother of Lila and Raphael.

Rose was predeceased by her husband Solomon, brother, Judge Irving Rader, sister, Gertrude Rader, and nephew, Jeffrey Lewis.

Before marrying Sol, Rose honed her skills as a secretary, moved from Brooklyn to Washington, D.C., and worked for a Congressman. Family called and she moved back home to help support her brother through NYU Law School.

Rose's own career took many twists and turns, but she was most proud of the work she did for nearly 20 years probating wills in Surrogate's Court in Brooklyn. Rose was the centre of family life at 1118 Ave. P., having lived there for over 70 years.

She was an active volunteer in her children's schools and twice President of the Sisterhood at the Jewish Center of Kings Highway. At the age of 75 Rose (and Sol) moved to Toronto to be closer to Donna, Larry, Andrew, and Carrie, forming a deeper joyful bond, yet helping her, as Alzheimer's took over her life.

The family thanks Rose's excellent caregivers over the years, especially Judy Juntarciego and Maleah Dassis.

A Family graveside service will be held at Beth David Cemetery in Elmont, New York on Sunday, May 9, 2021.
