Stanton DoreenSTANTON, Doreen Lilian - Very sad to announce the passing of Doreen of Toronto on Friday, May 7, 2021 in her 97th year. 

She was the widow of the late Albert Edward Stanton. 

Doreen is survived by her loving niece, Barbara Gilbert (Jim) and great niece of Alison Pitman (Dan) and Jennifer Maynard (Alex). 

She will also be missed by her cousins, Marjorie Fisher and family, and Joyce Veishlow and family and many friends. 

Predeceased by her sister, Audrey, and brother, Peter Gilbert.

Dearly loved Aunt of Jane Cain, Denise Boos (John), Nancy Parks (Gary),  Barbara Boos, Rev. Judith MacGillivray, Shelagh (Jay) MacGillivray and their families.

Doreen worked at Bell Canada for 40 years. Doreen was a member at St. Thomas Anglican Church in Toronto for 70 years, and a member of the Diocesem Chancel Guild and where she served as a member of the Altar Guild.

She was a past president of the Canadian Rose Society and attended many World Federation of Rose Societies conventions. Doreen enjoyed the performing arts and attended many concerts by the Toronto Symphony, the Canadian Opera Company and the National Ballet. She also loved to travel extensively.

The family extends its deepest thanks to Briton House and to Winsome Lawrence and Extended Health Care Services for taking care of Doreen during the last months of her life.

Doreen enjoyed life tremendously and was an inspiration to all of us who knew her.  We will miss greatly you, Doreen. 

A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at St. Thomas’s Anglican Church, Huron Street on Friday, May 14 at 11:00 a.m. for immediate family only. Interment to follow immediately after the service. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation or St. Thomas’s Anglican Church/Alter Guild.
