Manis OuraniaMANIS, Ourania  - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ourania “Baba” Manis. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world suddenly on May 23, 2021 at age 87.

She was born to Via & Demitri Andreovski on August 3, 1933. She was the oldest of her 4 siblings; Machi, Marianti (late), & George.

As a young girl, she was forced to grow up quickly. She was required to leave Greece with her siblings, and without their parents.

Kids were re-homed in the Czech Republic to stay protected from the war.

At 12 years old, they lived housed in an alternate group home with all her siblings, and many other kids. She didn’t reconnect with her mom until many, many years later, and never reconnected with her dad….

When she was older and left the group home to start her life, she met a wounded soldier in the town of Sobotin by the name of Vasil Manis. It was fate that brought them together, as he was solely brought to the Czech Republic to heal. They soon fell in love, and married. Together, they made a choice for a better life for their family in Canada.

Their lives brought them the joy of having 2 children: Vaska, and George (late), 5 grandchildren John, Bill, Sandy, Billy & Brittney, and 9 great grandchildren Ben, Victoria, Ellie, Katie, Peter, Zoe, Eva, Aiden & Ella.

Due to COVID protocols, a funeral service is scheduled for immediate family members only.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the heart & stroke foundation in her honour.
