Lehmann RuthLEHMANN, Ruth Sigrid (Guski) - (July 14, 1929 - May 29, 2021) -

Ruth Guski was born in Marienburg, West Prussia and grew up in Danzig, Germany. Following World War II she relocated to Schwenningen, Germany.

On August 15, 1953 she married Willi Lehmann and immigrated to Scarborough, Ontario, Canada. There they raised a daughter and two sons.

In the 1960s, they purchased vacation property at Rice Lake, Ontario and retreated to the cottage on weekends and the summer. As a naturalist, she especially enjoyed quiet mornings tending her flowers in the garden at the cottage.

As a fabulous cook, she entertained her beloved family and friends. Even a kindergarten teacher enjoyed lunch in the backyard.

Ruth, always an optimist, faithfully served as the telephone receptionist for the family business, then worked as a nanny, and patiently endured during health crisis.

She attended Wesley Chapel in Agincourt, Ontario and later Parkwoods Church in Toronto.

In the 1990s, Ruth and Willi retired to Sebring, Florida for the winters. There she especially enjoyed her “Florida Room," a screened-in balcony.

As a widow in her 80s, she holidayed in Heffley Lake, BC. She made special memories celebrating her birthday at a favourite German restaurant.

Ruth was predeceased by her husband, Willi, in 2009, her two brothers, Kurt and Horst, and two sisters, Ursula and Helga. She is survived by one sister, Gerda. Ruth is mourned by her daughter and son-in-law Elfe and David Smith, and her sons, Horst and Gary. Ruth is survived by four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements entrusted with Paul O'Connor funeral home.
