SIMONETTA, Giuseppe - Passed away at Toronto Western Hospital on June 6, 2021 as the result of COVID-19, aged 92.
Born in San Nicola da Crissa, Calabria, Italy on January 27, 1929 to Emilio and Filomena.
Predeceased by his wife, Maria; sons Emilio and Salvatore ( “Sam”) and daughter, Filomena.
Left to mourn him are his companion, Maria, and children Rosario (Lora), Tony (Jerran), Ralph (Domenica), Anna (Maurizio) and Lisa.
He will be missed by numerous grandchildren and great- grandchildren, nephews and nieces and many friends.
Giuseppe was a much-respected and honoured figure in Toronto’s Italian community who worked tirelessly in many capacities on behalf of Italian newcomers to Canada.
A pillar of St. Francis of Assisi Church, for almost half a century he organized the iconic Good Friday procession in Little Italy.
His work with the Italian consulate serves as a lasting legacy to his dedication to both his native land and his adopted country.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to The Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care would be appreciated by the family.
