Augustus JohnAUGUSTUS, John Harold Augustus, P. ENG.,  -  On July 13, 2021,  passed away peacefully, with his family by his side, at the age of 78.

Son of the late Harold and Dorothy Augustus.

Beloved husband of Carol (McMinn) Augustus; loving father of Laura (Steve), Dawn (Don) and Scott (Trish); much-loved grandfather of Megan, Tyler, Quinn, Elijah, Jacob, Matthew, Rylan and Tully.

Survived by his sister Diane and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

As a young man growing up in Whitby, Ontario, John had an early love for learning.

He also enjoyed fishing with his father, going to school and hanging with his (sometimes) mischievous friends.

He was an avid golfer, participated in many cross-country skiing and running marathons and was a competitive curler.

In 1962, he met his wife, Carol; his constant and loving companion of over 56 years.

He was a loving parent of three children and proud grandfather of 8.

He loved nothing more than creating situations that would spark new ideas in the growing minds of his grandchildren.

As part of raising and supporting his family, John encouraged an open door to his children's friends. Many have since shared with us the positive impact of his support and guidance on their lives. His support and confidence in all of us and his love for his family will be missed.

Visitation at Smith's Funeral Home, Burlington, on Monday, July 19th from 7–9 p.m. Please pre-register in advance.
