DOIG, Adrienne Valda (nee STARTUP) - January 12, 2021 Adrienne Valda Startup Doig was born in 1932 to Edward Walter Startup and Mabel Victoria Hunnisett Startup.
Val, as she was called, has a sister Yolande Startup Mara with whom she lost contact decades before her death.
Val was survived by her children, Karen, Victoria (Paul), and James Kevin, her husband, James "Jim" Edward Doig.
Val was a loving grandmother to her surviving grandchildren, Therin, Shae, and Chandler.
Her favourite colour was orange and she loved her cat, Yammers. Val moved from Toronto/ Thornhill to Thunder Bay to be closer to her family near the end of her life. She died peacefully after a fall at home.
Despite the fall, Val spent her final years at home in the comfort and safety carved out by her daughter, Victoria.
Victoria, her husband, and children feel lucky to have been able to be closer to Val in the last few years of her life.
