Janssens SusanJANSSENS, Susan Theresa (nee POVH)   - August 9, 1953 - September 15, 2021

Passed away at Juravinski Hospital, at the age of 68. Susan was born in New Waterford, Cape Breton, to Slovenian parents Frank, a coal miner, and Frances (nee Jamsek), both deceased.

She graduated from Dalhousie University in 1975, and worked as a pharmacist for 42 years, retiring in 2017.

Susan will be deeply missed by sons Chris and Kent (Shawna), born to first husband George Janssens (deceased), by her sisters Emily and Janet, niece Nicole (Kyla and Walker) and by her "adopted" daughter Helen.

Beloved wife of Stephen Cheesman for 21 years, they met on a blind date set up through prayer by one of her customers, Laureen!

Susan had a deep Catholic faith, participated in a Bible study, and sang with Stephen in the choir; sharing their faith as they grew closer to God and to each other.

Her home was the center of family gatherings - Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Diagnosed in 2018 with stage 4 lung cancer, and enrolled in an immunotherapy drug trial, Susan was granted 3 years of good health during which time she was able to walk in Jesus's steps in the Holy Land.

Most wonderfully, in Susan's last year, God granted to her a longed-for grandchild, Benjamin, whom she adored beyond all measure. Susan sparkled like a diamond and was loved by family and innumerable friends.

She shines now in Heaven.
