MERRICK, Rita Elizabeth - It is with heavy hearts we announce the peaceful passing of Rita Elizabeth Merrick on September 10, 2021 at age 98 ½.
Beloved mother to Barbara, and Kevin (Kelly).
Predeceased by her, sons Peter Joseph (1968), Gerald Bernard (1989), and John Gary (1997) and husband John Bernard Merrick (1995).
Cherished grandmother to Leeanne (Rob), Adam (Leigh), Lori, Miranda (Brad), Avery and Jenny.
Adored great grandmother to Mitchell, Meghan, Bradley, Faith, Vincent, and Matthew.
Loving daughter to the late Joseph and Theresa Gallivan. Sister to Fred (Shirley) Gallivan, Mary (Frank) O'Reilly, Shirley (Ben) Lack, and Betty (Tom) Massie. A true matriarch, wonderful loving mother, grandmother and friend to many.
Rita will be remembered for her generosity and kindness.
Rita was an active member in Catholic Women's League, and Friendship Club at St. Michael's Parish in Oakville. Donations in Rita's honour may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, and the Society of the Little Flower.
