Benda BronislavaBENDA, Bronislava 'Bronia' - Bronislava Benda, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 in her 94th year after a long battle with Alzheimer disease.

Bronia was the loving wife of the late Dr. Eugene F. Benda (2008), proud mother of Eugene Jr. (Joanne) and the late Milos (1981). Proud grandmother of Andrew (Janerae) nd Phillip (Kyra) and great grandmother of Eli and Penelope.

Bronia was born on June 15, 1928 to Josef and Marie Obrtel in Tisnov, Czechoslovakia, grew up there, studied medicine and began her career as a paediatrician. Together with her husband and two young sons, she immigrated to Canada in 1968 and settled in Toronto. Bronia continued to practice medicine until her retirement in 1996.

They moved to their cottage home on Canal Lake in Bolsover, Ontario, where she enjoyed quite an active retirement with her passions for gardening, tennis, skiing, cooking and entertaining family and friends. In 2010, she moved to Aurora to be closer to her family and in 2014 she moved to Oak Ridges Retirement Home.

Bronia was a generous and caring woman, who loved her family deeply. She loved to cook and was thrilled to bake favourites for her grandchildren, particularly at Christmas. She had a wonderful sense of humour and was known for her smile. "Granny" will be so fondly remembered by many family and friends.

Bronia spent the final years of her life in Aurora and Oak Ridges. Thank you to the staff at the Oak Ridges Retirement Home for many years of care.
