SARAGOSA, Anna   -  It is with great sadness that we announce that our dear mother, Anna Josefine Saragosa, passed away on December 13, 2022, in her 90th year.

Born on July 3, 1932, to Fritz and Hedwig Maraun, in Castrop-Rauxel, Germany.

She began the grand adventure of her lifetime when she journeyed with friends, that lasted a lifetime, to Newfoundland in the 1950s, and began exploring Canada. She ultimately settled in Toronto, where she met her husband, Giovanni.

Anna was passionate about sewing, knitting, cooking, gardening, classical music and, in her later life, investing in stocks. Always eager to learn, she added Italian cuisine to her repertoire, after marrying, studied bookkeeping and typing to help with the family small business, and became quite passionate about the stock market. Anna was a devoted and caring wife to Giovanni for 59 years, concerned about his well being to her final days.

She was an extraordinarily nurturing mother to Ronnie (Julie) and Michael (Leonor), teaching us the value of honesty, the need to work hard, and faithfulness, by her sterling example. But most of all she was an adoring Oma to her grandchildren, James, Angelica and Christopher, treasuring all the time she was blessed to have with them. Anna was predeceased by her sister, Trude. In addition to her husband, children and grandchildren,

she is survived by her sister, Hildegard; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, in Germany and Italy.

A Visitation is planned for December 22, 2022, from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor Street West in Toronto.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Charity of Your Choice (she supported too many to list).
