JOACHIM, Glenda Marie - Shortly before her death, on Tuesday, May 23, 2023, Glenda said, "wouldn't it be wonderful if I died in my garden?"
Glenda, aged 87, very nearly got her wish.
She was in her beautiful garden when she had a stroke.
She lived for another seven days and was able to say goodbye to all her children: Rebecca (Sasha), John (Kavita), Janice (Noel) and Kaye (Russell).
Glenda's husband, Leon, of over 50 years, died in 2014.
Glenda has nine grandchildren: Michael (Libby), Nicole (Clint), Elaine, Emma (Geet), Ali (Nancy), Leila, Jayna, Anjuli and Neel. She also has three great-grandchildren: Emma, Paige and Cora.
Glenda was very close to her sisters, Neiliya and Barbara. Glenda lived a long and wonderful life.
She left her home in Sri Lanka in 1964 and moved to Canada in the hope of giving her children a better life.
She worked outside the home, and inside the home for many, many years.
At the time of her death, she was still living in her own home of over 50 years, tending her flower garden, growing her vegetables, and cooking.
She was also a talented seamstress and quiltmaker. Every member of her family has wonderful quilts designed, embroidered, and sewn by "Nana."
