THOMPSON, Barbara Joan (nee PEBERDY)  -  Joan died peacefully, at 95, on May 31, 2023, after a brief illness.

Wife of 66 years to the late Griffin Thompson; mother of Sarah Booth and Rachel Evans (Glen).

Adored by grandchildren, Adam (Vandele) and Joshua Booth (Diane), Elaine Evans-Collings (Patrick) and Lila Skelton (Michael).

Great-grandchildren, Jordan and Jaxon Booth, Skye and River Skelton. Loving aunt to Lisa Dodds (Jim).

Joan charmed all who met her with her quick wit and esoteric knowledge. She met Griff at McMaster.

Together they joined the Book Club that met monthly for nearly seven decades.

A dedicated bridge player, prodigious reader, and crossword aficionado, Joan was also known for her 'stately' tennis skills at Donalda Club in Toronto.

Joan and Griff travelled the world, with a highlight circumnavigating South America. She spoke fluent French, passable Spanish and terrible German.

Her voice, a trained soprano, was quite impressive, as was her dancing, ballroom, Latin and occasionally, to our delight, tap.

The many summers spent on Wymbolwood Beach with our extended family are a joy to remember. We will miss her laugh and her advice and her beautiful face.

Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea.
