DICKENS, Eric - With great sadness, we announce our father's passing, on December 6, 2023 in Toronto, at the age of 74.
Lovingly remembered by: daughters Leslie and Abby; sons-in-law Trevor and Matthew; and granddaughters Loa, Gwyneth and Penelope.
Predeceased by parents Donald and Margery (Harris Copper); brothers Ted and Ray; and sister-in-law and close friend Kathy.
Born in Saint John, NB on July 4, 1949 and raised in Truro, NS, Eric achieved his B.Comm. from Saint Mary's University before moving to Ontario.
A proud Maritimer and impassioned storyteller, Eric frequently regaled friends and family with tales of growing up on the East coast and took pride in teaching others how to properly eat a lobster.
Eric always felt a strong drive to help others, from his career in the insurance industry to his volunteer work with the Gateway & Warehouse Missions in Toronto, and ultimately becoming a Stephen Minister.
More recently, Eric most loved being Grampie to his three granddaughters who brought him great joy. We love you and miss you, Dad.
Service will be held January 7, 2024 at the Humphrey Funeral Home A.W. Miles – Newbigging Chapel, 1403 Bayview Avenue, Toronto.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Eric's name to The Salvation Army Gateway (thegateway.ca).
