Ebata YorikoEBATA, Yoriko  - With great sadness we announce the passing of Yoriko Ebata on January 15, 2024, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.

Born June 14, 1933, in Kobe, Japan, to Yoshio and Sumiko (Mary) Sugiura; older sister to Go Sugiura (Union City, CA) and Asako Ayabe (Osaka, Japan); and dearly beloved mother to Naomi and Michi.

An incredibly strong woman, Yoriko was a fighter who overcame many challenges in her life.

She arrived in Toronto in 1966 with her husband and young daughter with no knowledge of the language and culture.

Over the years, she learned and flourished and made Canada her new home.

Yoriko sacrificed much for her children, ensuring they had every chance to further their education and chase their dreams. She loved food, and her table always overflowed with the many different dishes she loved to make.

After retiring from Fuji Bank in 1998, Yoriko finally got the chance to indulge in her hobbies and enjoyed golf, travel, music, painting and quilting. The family offers heartfelt thanks to Dr. Susan Fox of the Movement Disorders Clinic at TWH and to Dr. Camelia Dragomir for their years of compassionate care. We love you, Mom, and will miss you forever. Rest in peace.

Friends may call at the Turner & Porter Yorke Chapel, 2357 Bloor St. W., on Thursday, January 25, 2024, from 2-4 p.m.
