SHIPOWICK, Taras (Terrance) -
January 24, 1952 - February 14, 2024
Taras passed peacefully, at home on Valentine's Day.
He will be dearly missed by his partner of 47 years, Pearse Murray, and by the many who experienced the love, friendship, and joy he brought to their lives.
He was predeceased by his parents, Michael and Irene; and survived by his brother, Wesley (Lesia); and sister, Donna (Patrick).
Gifted with both a wonderful singing voice and dance prowess, he used his talents as a brilliant stager and choreographer through his company Showmakers and produced spectacular shows and events — including the Brazilian Ball, the Toronto International Caravan, Mary Kay's annual corporate celebrations, the gala in Ottawa for Queen Elizabeth's Silver Jubilee, and the Nylons whom he brought together.
This humble, generous, caring, soul who helped, inspired, and was dearly loved by so many will have his final resting place at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre.
Visitation is at 375 Mount Pleasant Road, Toronto, on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. with a Service at 11:00 a.m. followed by Reception at 12:00 noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the following charities: St. Volodymyr Institute (620 Spadina Avenue, Toronto) or a charity of your choice.
