Gri AnnaGRI, Anna Angela (nee ELY)  -

November 26, 1935 – March 16, 2024

Peacefully, passed away at Humber River Hospital, on March 16, 2024, at the age of 88, with family by her side.

She was predeceased by Daniele, her beloved spouse of 68 years; her older brother, Philip Ely; and younger brother, Victor Ely (Joan).

Proud mother of Paul (Suzanne), Michael (Marilyn), David (Adriana), and Anthony (Susan). Proud Nonna of Andrea (Scott), Danielle (Cody), Daniel, Jacqueline, Sierra, Sebastian, Adrian, Erica and Matthew; and cherished Bisnonna to Clara and Chloe.

Anna was born in Toronto in 1935 to parents who began immigrating from Italy in 1908. She had many accomplishments and started her career in the 1950s by working at General Electric, followed by Glaxo Pharmaceuticals and was then a secretary at the Roman Catholic Churches of St. Jude's and later, St. Philip Neri.

Nothing was more important to Anna than her family.

Her work ethic and generosity has made her a role model for her four sons.

Anna loved sharing her knowledge of cooking and other bits of wisdom with her children, their spouses and her grandchildren. She was proud of them all and enjoyed attending their graduations and celebrating their accomplishments.

She was a dedicated member of her church community and will be fondly missed by her extensive network of friends, some of whom she has known for more than 60 years.

Family and friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home, Weston Chapel, 2035 Weston Road, Toronto, on Thursday, March 21st, from 3:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will take place on Friday, March 22nd, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 2100 Jane Street, Toronto. Interment to follow.
